Thursday Jun 06, 2024
Dale Harrison has always loved drumming, from his first winning audition as the bongo player in a production of The Little Drummer Boy when he was 8 years old. Dale’s passion grew as he did, inspired by the likes of Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Steve Gadd, Keith Moon, Stewart Copeland, John Bonham, and many more!
Dale has also studied at The University of Ottawa & graduated from the Humber College music program in Toronto. These influences have helped him craft a style that has enabled him to tour worldwide with many great artists; Headstones, Alannah Myles, Phil X, Derek St Holmes, Toney Springer & Derek Miller.
Between tours, Dale finds himself busy as a studio musician and educator. “Yamaha Drums have never let me down in any situation, be it on tour through Europe with Alannah Myles, smashing my way across North America with Headstones or laying down tracks in the studio. My Yamaha Absolute Custom Drums always stand up & sound excellent! Let’s just say, sound engineers love them too! Yamaha is constantly adapting to new idea’s inspired from professional players, which makes the union between player and instrument a beautiful thing!

Sev`s Cellar-Kyp Harness Part 2
Thursday May 09, 2024
Thursday May 09, 2024
Wherever the name of Kyp Harness appears, the term “Songwriter’s-songwriter” soon follows. While often used ambiguously, in Kyp’s case it’s very accurate: his most fervent fans are other songwriters from both the folk and alternative music circles. Daniel Lanois, Mary Margaret O’Hara, Ron Sexsmith, Townes Van Zandt, Bob Wiseman and Bob Snider have all tipped their hats to Kyp at every opportunity.
Focusing on the songwriting aspect of the creative process has produced from Kyp more than a decade of recordings, each with critical acclaim and recognition from the sort of folks who pay attention to such stuff. From local reviewers to national campus radio to international publications, Kyp has been receiving raves from those who seek out good music, while still flying under the radar of the mainstream star-making mechanisms of this industry.
Versatility in his writing allows Kyp to pull off the impressive feat of being a swaggering punk at one moment, and a poignant folk balladeer the next. A natural storyteller, the lyrics are rich in detail, emotional and filled with poetic metaphors. Sometimes stripped down into a songwriter and sometimes backed with a band the delivery is always slightly off-centre but always deeply personal. Kyp is a performer that can project his personality from the stage, winning over audiences with sheer energy and by refusing to compromise the spirit of the song in any circumstance.

Neil Chapman Part 2 (Episode 52)
Thursday Apr 11, 2024
Thursday Apr 11, 2024
Neil Chapman is one of North Americas most inspiring guitarists. As well as being a first call session player, having recorded with the likes of Dan Hill, Rita McNeil, Rough Trade, The Sattallites, Heat Exchange, Zombo Zombo, Bill King’s Saturday Nite Fish Fry and Alan Frew, he has played on stage with many great artists such as Leonard Cohen, Carol Pope, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Randy Bachman, Leroy Sibbles, Toots and the Maytals, and Maestro Fresh Wes.
Along with Graeme Williamson and Tony Duggan-Smith, Neil is a founding member of Canada’s “National Treasure” THE PUKKA ORCHESTRA, and the offshoots Neotone and Autocondo.
Neil doesn’t know how he plays the gitar (Neil’s spelling), it’s just something he’s done ever since he first heard his friend Doug playing a Fender Esquire through a Pro Reverb before people walked on the moon. “When I heard that sound I just knew I had to do it” says Neil. Actually the song he heard being played was Peter Gunn, and fortunately it’s all played on one string so Neil picked it up fairly quickly.
From there Neil progressed from tennis racquets in the basement (they make a pretty reasonable gitar facsimile in a pinch) to wankin’ on his beat up Stratocaster and Marshall all over the world. Actually, he ended up buying Doug’s Esquire, personally tattooed by his good friend John Burkitt, until he traded it for a “TV Yellow” 56 Les Paul Special. “If only I had all the gear I ever had,” says Neil with a dreamy look in his eyes…
Well he doesn’t, but what he does have are friends and family, who have supported him through the good times and the bad, and an undying belief that whatever that power is that helps him play like there’s no tomorrow has got to be good.
