"Hello friends, my name is Matt Axton.
Thank you for lending me some of your time. I like to think of my music as a “Humble slice of Americana”, a mix of folk, funk, country, blues and rock with a little bit of everything else I can find thrown in.
Some would say music is in the blood. I was lucky enough to be born into a musical family and I am proud to keep the Axton Family Legacy alive. With my grandmother Mae "Queen Mother of Nashville" Axton - PR maven / Songwriter - "Heartbreak Hotel". My father Hoyt Axton- Singer/Songwriter/Actor - "Joy to the world", "Della and the Dealer" and "Gremlins". And My mom Donna Axton - Composer/Professor of Music/Piano Master as my guides, my musical journey took flight.
As a youth, I was hopping on and off tour busses, running wild backstage and hanging with artistic characters of all kinds. Music was never a "Like it" or "don't like it" type of thing , it just was "it". This set me up with a unique connection to the musical note and the accompanying words that go into making a song. I learned to give an ear to every style. To find joy and excitement in each story and to seek out the challenge of bringing it to life with originality as the foundation."
The line between Country Bumpkin and Classical Master
"Although music was always part of my life, I didn’t find my own voice and style until after high school when an injury confined me to a bed and my best friend became the guitar. My dad always said he felt like he was a satellite dish, the Music was floating in the cosmos and he was the lucky one who could pick up the waves. I feel the same. So I grabbed that guitar and the music flowed. Beginning with the simple Singer/Songwriter and picking up whatever sound the songs asks for along the way, but never straying too far from my roots and the unique storytelling that a group of note with the right set of words behind it can bring. I truly love the adventure of trying to make someone dance a little longer, think a little deeper and bring just a little more JOY TO THE WORLD!
I like to ride the line between the Country Bumpkin and the Classical Master, pulling inspiration from every life journey, whether it's the simple joy of fresh air on a beautiful mountain day or the grind of a packed overnight ride to the next gig. Having a song connect and bring a smile or a tear to the face of a new friend is about as close to magic as I have found in this life.
Having an open mind, surrounding yourself with good people and going wherever the song takes you seems to be the best way to travel. And I hope you can join me somewhere along this crazy journey.
May the Music forever ring true to you and yours. And as Always, JOY TO YOU !"

"Born & raised in a small town in Northern Ontario, Canada. My music passion came from my Grandfather & an Aunty. They both played guitar and sang. She played folk & classic rock. He played the country classics. I remember hearing Grandpa play Hank Sr's "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry". I was in awe of that song & my Grandfather. They hooked me with their skills & there was no turning back!
I've played in a number of cover bands & duos over the years. It's fulfilled my need to play music with good people, however, writing/creating my own original material, has always been where my heart & soul loves to be. I have songs in me, I need to keep writing & performing as long as one person will listen.
I hope to create & perform my music & cover music, till the day I die, even if it's from a rocking chair on my own back porch! Keeping it light, grateful, learning, growing & moving forward. It's always time to make more music."

Thursday Nov 30, 2023
Toronto-based Vivienne Wilder is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. Her music has been described as lit-punk, bubblegrunge and anti-genre. With thoughtfully crafted lyrics, her voice veers from girlish to goblinesque as she explores the secret worlds of self-destruction, millennial disappointed hope, and the paradoxical beauty and sadness in unrequited love. Her sound embraces the traditional past and the anxious, non-linear present, in a sonic collage that juxtaposes hi-brow, capital-A Art with the sometimes salacious dregs of popular culture.

“Over the past 25 years, THE GARYS have helped define the city of Toronto as a cosmopolitan mecca of artistic expression.”
-TORONTO ARTS AWARDS, 1995
There’s a new self-titled book by acclaimed graphic novelist, Dave Collier, and it’s all a matter of taste for TOPP… in the 1970s, Gary deftly juggled trashy flicks (John Waters’ Pink Flamingos, for instance) with art films (all six hours of the Russian War And Peace with cabbage rolls for 700 at intermission ) for crowds of zonked cineastes at the long-gone Original 99-Cent Roxy.
Next, as half of The Garys, at such venues as the New Yorker Theatre, the Horseshoe and the Edge, they went on to promote all kinds of equally hip and eclectic concerts—from Divine’s off-Broadway spectacle ’Neon Woman’ to Jim Rose’s Circus Sideshow, from kids concerts with Robert Munsch to Jane Birkin, Jerry Seinfeld, Waylon Jennings, Tom Waits and jazz legends Sun Ra and Ornette Coleman to the first Toronto gigs (and 36 in total) by New York punk-rockers the Ramones, from North Indian sarod virtuoso Ali Akbar Khan, Argentina’s tango rebel Astor Piazzolla, Kronos Quartet and James Brown, to an obscure, England-based trio of reggae enthusiasts called The Police who in 1978 drew a crowd of some sixty people to a now-legendary two-night stand at the Horseshoe. In the late 90s, Gary premiered the Dixie Chicks, a band not one Toronto promoter was remotely interested in. Topp has hosted several radio programs on Q107 and CKLN, served as a TV music producer, produced music videos, is a fundraiser and became the first promoter, The Garys, to win a Toronto Arts Award. He continues to book concerts and his taste remains anything but predictable or mainstream.
Filmmaker Ron Mann (Twist, Comic Book Confidential, Grass) refers to Gary as “a hand grenade of an impresario who created a counter-culture film and music scene where no one before him had dared”.
TOPP, PROMOTER GARY TOPP BROUGHT US THE WORLD, has just been released by Conundrum Press and is available everywhere.
